Chocolate lava cake
An irresistible recipe for Valentine’s Day with only five ingredients: This chocolate tartlet with its liquid core will melt any heart.
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 200 °C (top and bottom heat, not circulating air). Grease four round tartlet forms (5 x 5 cm) and dust with flour. Dust off any excess flour.
- Coarsely chop the chocolate and add to a bowl with the butter. Melt chocolate and butter in a bain-marie or in a microwave oven and mix well. Next, stir in the Hermesetas Granulated. Add the flour to the bowl while continuing to stir. Add the egg yolk and egg white and mix until the batter is smooth.
- Fill the forms to 3/4 volume with batter. Bake the chocolate cakes in the oven for 7 to 10 minutes. They should still be slightly wobbly at the top when you take them out of the oven, so the core remains liquid.
- HINT: The tartlet needs to be firm around the edges and liquid at its core. Take care when plating as the tartlet can easily fall apart due to its soft core. Therefore, test they are done around the edges instead of the centre. A chocolate volcano!
